Why do we set extended learning?
· It encourages students to develop skills, confidence and motivation needed to study effectively on their own
· It consolidates and reinforces skills and understanding developed at the Academy
· It extends Academy learning, for example through additional reading
· It sustains the involvement of parents in the management of pupils’ learning and it keeps them informed about work
· It helps to manage particular demands, such as GCSE coursework
Partnership with Parents
The Academy needs to be able to count on parents’ support to provide suitable working conditions for students and to encourage them to complete home learning. The amount of home learning may very according to the time of year and in relation to demands of subject areas. A home learning planner and timetable will be issued to students at the beginning of the Academy year. All home learning should be recorded in the planner and parents are asked to check it regularly.
