Some Popular Questions and Answers for parents/carers and students:
How does my child credit the account?
This can be done in two ways:
A By cheque: cheques are encouraged because it means no cash has to be carried. Cheques should be made payable to Cygnet Foods Ltd and, along with the bankers card details, have the student’s name and tutor group on the back. Paying by cheque means you know the money is being spent on food and drink within the Academy. There will be a cheque box specifically for this located next to one of the revaluation units: please deposit at least one day prior to requirement of funds.
B By Cash: into the revaluation machines on site. These take £5, £10 and £20 notes, £2, £1, 50p, 20p, 10p, 5p coins – no copper is accepted.
There is no minimum or maximum amount that has to be credited to the account before it can be used; however, the account must be in credit to purchase food.
When can my child use the revaluation machine?
Before the first bell in the morning, at break and at lunchtime.
How does my child check if they have credit on their account?
Students can check their account using the revaluation machines located in the Academy at the times mentioned above.
My child is entitled to a free meal, how does it work?
The allowance is automatically credited to a student’s account each day to allow purchase of the meal. (Please note credit is not carried forward to the next day).
Can anyone else use my child’s account?
No – a unique biometric reading is allocated to each student and their photo image appears at the till.
Can I have any say in what my child eats?
The system has a blocking facility that will identify any items your child is not allowed either by choice or dietary needs. This needs to be confirmed in writing by the parent/carer to the Academy Finance Office.
Reports can be obtained from the system giving comprehensive information on all aspects of use for each individual student as well as each day’s service. These reports can be for a specific day or between any dates you wish, they will be dated and timed to the minute, and can be obtained from the Academy Finance Office.
How is my child recognised by the system?
The biometric finger scan is converted into a number and stored on the system against the student. Once the finger scan has been taken it is automatically converted to numerical form, no register of fingerprint is kept and it is impossible to reconstitute a fingerprint from the numeric reference.
