Artsmark is a nationally accredited award given to schools/colleges in recognition of the Performing Arts taught in school. It includes all areas of the Performing Arts including Music, Drama, Art, Dance and more.
Artsmark itself is an evaluation and audit of the Performing and Visual Arts being taught within schools. It provides a benchmark for Arts provision that encourages schools to consider the opportunities they offer in the Arts.
In June 2009, Humberston Academy was awarded the accolade of the Artsmark Bronze Award. Since then, we have developed our Performing Arts area even further and we now have a full complement of subjects in the Visual and Performing Arts Faculty, including Music, Art, Drama, Dance and PE; all of which are taught throughout KS3 and are an option at KS4.
In the next application process, it is our hope that as well as retaining the Artsmark Bronze, we will also apply for and receive the Artsmark Silver, and eventually Gold, Awards.
At present, Artsmark is undergoing a review. This means that our Academy will be unable to re-apply until after Sept 2011. More information can be found at the Artsmark website. Please visit www.artsmark.org.uk or contact the Academy at office@humberstonacademy.co.uk
