Any work or activity which you are asked to do outside lesson times, either on your own or with your parents, is extended learning. The type of extended learning will vary considerably depending on the subject and your age. Home learning tasks may vary to include:-
investigation interviews simple experiments
essay writing research public library visits
drafting report writing reading
designing revision making a model
drawing word processing desktop publishing
projects
Why do we set extended learning?
· It encourages you to develop skills, confidence and motivation needed to study effectively on your own
· It consolidates and reinforces skills and understanding developed at the Academy
· It extends Academy learning, for example through additional reading
· It sustains the involvement of parents in the management of your learning and keeps them informed about your work
· It helps to manage particular demands, such as GCSE coursework
