BRIEF OUTLINE
In this course you will develop your understanding of Mathematics by working individually, in pairs or in groups. Many different teaching and learning styles are used to support your learning.
Question and answer sessions allow students to get involved in class discussion. Interactive whiteboards are used regularly with a range of programmes and presentations. You will use games and kinaesthetic activities to help you master your new skills and understanding. Computer-based packages are available from home to support learning.

WHY STUDY MATHEMATICS
- Mathematics is an essential life skill
- you will use some of the skills that you develop in Mathematics in all of your other lessons and everyday life
- every time you plan a weekend, use a computer or a phone, watch the television, check the weather, decide to take a risk, travel somewhere, go shopping or go to the bank, Mathematics plays a part!
- you may not use all the Mathematics you learn. You may not use algebra when you go shopping, but the architects who designed the shop did, so do the builders who built it, the engineers who designed the tills, and the shop assistants who served you!
- Mathematics GCSE is a requirement for entry into many courses, training and jobs
Some students will be offered the opportunity to study GCSE Statistics within their Mathematics lessons.
