BRIEF OUTLINE
All students started to study for the first Short Course (first half of the GCSE) in Year 9 and will have completed this by the Spring Term in Year 10. The second Short Course (second half of the GCSE) will be studied for remaining two terms in Year 10 and the first two terms in Year 11. Students will be entered for the first Short Course examination in 2012 and the second Short Course examination in 2013
The course offers students the opportunity to study a variety of relevant and interesting moral issues and consequently, students gain new skills and a greater understanding of the values and attitudes of others. Students will have the opportunity to discuss various topics and express their personal views, whilst understanding how a person’s religious beliefs affect their moral choices and the way in which they live their life. Students will learn how to offer valued judgements and conclusions on all issues studied.

- planet earth
- prejudice and discrimination
Second short course: Religion and Morality
- elderly and death
- medical ethics
- attitudes to drug abuse

WHY STUDY ETHICS AND MORALS
- to be more aware of the multicultural society and world in which we live
- these are skills useful for careers in health care and social work, journalism, the media, leisure and tourism, law, teaching and the army
- to develop the skills of communication, expression, tolerance and enquiry
