BTEC FIRST CERTIFICATE SPORT

BRIEF OUTLINE

This is a course where you will study a variety of key areas in the context of sport in order to give you a realistic view of vocational aspects of the sporting industry. A wide range of teaching and learning methods will be used presentations, videos, worksheets, anatomy models, internet sources. During the course you will also develop your understanding and ability in a range of sports, and improve your overall fitness levels.

 

COURSE CONTENT

You will study:

      - preparation for Sports Leadership

      - health, safety and injury in sports industry

      - practical sport

      - the body in action

 

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

Coursework 100%

All work is assessed through the building of a portfolio – no external examinations. BTECs have been designed to be of an equivalent standard to GCSEs at grades A-C.

 

WHY STUDY SPORT

      - the BTEC first certificate in sport is a valued and widely recognised qualification

      - you will develop and use a variety of transferable skills including the ability to organise your work, to take part in group activities as well as research and present your findings

      - the course will give you an introduction to possible careers in sport and is ideal if you are considering a career in coaching, personal training, teaching, leisure management, sports Technology or physiotherapy
