BRIEF OUTLINE
GCSE Physical Education is designed to inspire, motivate and focus students on a physical and theoretical GCSE course. The course will enable students to make informed decisions about further learning and career choices.
COURSE CONTENT
In GCSE PE students will cover both theory and practical elements of PE. The theory is closely linked to science covering sections such as the skeleton muscles and the cardio vascular systems. We also cover socio economic factors related to sport.
The practical element allows students to be assessed on their practical ability as well as their analysis and observational skills. We will cover sports such as those listed below:
- football
- cricket
- basketball
- athletics
- badminton
- Sports Leader Award
- rounders
- hockey
- circuit training
- volleyball
- badminton
- dance
- netball
- aerobics
- step aerobics

Examination 40%
Coursework/Practical 60%
WHY STUDY GCSE PE
- if you are considering taking A level PE this is the course you need to study
- you will develop and use a variety of transferable skills including the ability to organise your work, to take part in group activities as well as research and present your findings
- the course will give you an introduction to possible careers in sport and is ideal if you are considering a career in coaching, personal training, teaching, leisure management, sports Technology or physiotherapy
