BRIEF OUTLINE
This fresh approach to GCSE Food Technology reflects the growing status of the subject nationally. The course provides an innovative and imaginative qualification rewarding creativity and use of ICT. Students will of course be involved in designing and making food products, also recognising the contribution they can make to the environment through care, consideration and selection of sustainable resources.
COURSE CONTENT
The course is delivered through 4 units
- Unit 1 Introduction to Designing and Making (Controlled Assessment)
- Unit 2 Sustainable Design (Examination)
- Unit 3 Making Quality Products (Controlled Assessment)
- Unit 4 Technical Aspects of Designing and Making (Examination)
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED
60 % Controlled assessment
40% Examinations
WHY STUDY FOOD TECHNOLOGY
The part played by food Technology in our modern lifestyles is being increasingly brought to the forefront by both media and government. All students are now entitled to learn to cook and to understand the principles of diet, nutrition, health and safety and sustainable food shopping. Cooking is at least a life skill and more importantly fun!!
